1. The
Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has
allocated budget towards the cost of Beto River Bridge-1 and 2
Projects and intends to apply part of this budget to eligible
payments under these contracts.
2. The
Works to be carried out under Beto River Bridge-1 contract comprises
the construction of 80m long Bridge which consists 40m long from
pier to pier R.C. Box Grider Bridge and 20ml long abutment to pier
R.C. Girder Bridge with a width of 8.92 meters (7.32 meters plus 2 x
0.8 pedestrian walkway) and 10.52m (8.92 meters plus 2 x 0.8
pedestrian walkway) respectively. The Works to be carried out under
Beto River Bridge-2 contract comprises the construction of 40m long
R.C. Box Girder with a width of 8.92 meters (7..32 meters plus 2 x
0.8 pedestrian walkway) Bridge. The projects are located in Amhara Regional State which is part of
ALemketema-Akista road construction project.
3. The
Ethiopian Roads Authority now invites bidders to submit sealed bids
for providing the necessary labour, material and equipment for the
construction of the two Bridges.
4. Interested
bides shall submit the following evidence;
a. In
the case of Ethiopia bidders, Certificate of Registration from
Ministry of Works and Urban Development with Category GC-III or
RC-III or BC-III or above renewed for 2002 EFY and other appropriate
documents which shall include:
i. Trading
License renewed for 2002 EFY; and
ii. Tax
Clearance Certificate valid at bidding date and VAT Registration
Certificate.
b. In
Case of bidders other than Ethiopians’ Business Organization
Registration Certificate or Trade License issued by the Country of
establishment.
5. Bidding
will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB)
procedures and is open to all eligible bidders as specified and
defined in the Bidding Document.
6. Interested
eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the
bidding documents at the address-1 below from 8:30 to 12:30 A.M. and 1:30 to 5:30 P.M. on Friday local
time. A complete set of bidding documents prepared in English
language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of
a written application to the address-2 below and upon payment of a
non-refundable fee of ETB 150 effective as of January 27, 2010.The
method of payment shall be in cash or direct deposit to ERA’s
account number NBE 0160101011500.

7. Bidders
shall submit two envelopes, “Qualification information & Bid
Security” in one envelope and “Financial Bid” separately in another
envelope and should be sealed in an outer envelope.
8. Evaluation
is to be carried out in two stages, Qualification Evaluation first
and Financial Bids of qualified bidders next.
9. Bids
must be delivered to the address below on or before
March 3, 2010 at 2:30 P.M. All
bids must be accompanied by a bid security of ETB 100,000. Late bids
will be rejected. Qualification information and Bid Security of the
bidders will be opened in the presence of bidders/ representatives
who choose to attend at the address below on the final date and time
of bid submission as stated above.
