Non-Dutiable Investment Goods

1.      The Ethiopian Investment Authority has the duties and powers by Investment Proclamation, Regulation and by Regulation No. 6/1997 to allow Foreign and National Investors, Public Enterprises, Government Ministries and Bodies, Non-Governmental Donor Organizations to import non-dutiable capital goods ;

2.      The importers in III.1. above should present the list of non-dutiable capital goods to be imported for their project and other mandatory documents to the Ethiopian Investment Authority (EIA).

3.      The EIA shall officially write to ECuA the list of non-dutiable capital goods to be imported and the legal permission for release of the goods;

4.      The respective section at the ECuA HQ shall transmit the same to the concerned customs station for release of the goods following the procedures accordingly, i.e. after the presentation of all the necessary documentation indicated in I.2. above and other certificates from Ministry of Justice, from Embassies etc.. as the case may be.

5.      The station shall release the goods and report back to the HQ the duty and tax forgone.

6.      Investors in Mining and Energy shall get their certificates/ permits from the Ministry or the Regional Mining and Energy Bureaus and other procedures shall be the same.
