Historical Background:-

Meta Abo Brewery S.C. was established as a share company in 1967 by a group of shareholders. It was initially set up with a capital of over Birr 2 million with production capacity of 50,000 hectoliters of beer annually and having 128 permanent employees only. It occupies a land area size of 36.96 hectares. The main product of the factory are Bottled beer and Draft beer. Meta lager Beer is brewed according to the German purity law of 1516, using only natural ingredients. i.e. malted barley, hops and natural spring water. The business objective of Meta Abo Brewery is production and sales of beer to customers. 

Currently Meta Abo Brewery S.C. Production capacity has reached 437,000 (HL/Year) which is more than 8 times of its original capacity.

Meta Abo Brewery S.C. offers employment opportunity to over 800 persons with 20% Females.

Meta Abo Brewery S.C. Exports its Bottled Beer to different countries i.e. USA- different states, England, Canada & Australia. Meta also have enough capacity to export to other countries.

Its local sales distribution covers, Addis Ababa, tigray, Amhara, Oromya, SNPPR Afar and Benshangul Gumuz regional states.
