Zoma
Contemporary Art Center is named in memory of Zoma Shiferraw.
Zoma was a young Ethiopian female contemporary artist who died in 1979
at age twenty seven. A self-taught gifted artist, Zoma started
painting at a very young age. Born and raised in Addis Ababa,
Ethiopia, Zoma went to the United States in 1970 when she was 18 to
attend college. During the rest of her life, she was busy painting,
exploring the New World and promoting young artists. Up until the day
she died, her dream was to continue painting. |
