PRECAUTIONS NECESSARY AT SUBMISSION OF DECLARATION
The customs entry is a legal document once it is submitted at face-vet
for registration and as such, due care must be given to complete the
details on the document as correctly as possible.
-
When the entry is deposited with customs the
Face-vet Officer will do a face vetting or screening. If the officer
finds omissions or errors, he will return the entry to the declaring for
correction
-
The face-vet officer who will issue a
Declaration (ingate) number will check correct entries.
-
The entry will be passed to the Registry
Officer who will enter the data in the computer.
-
If errors are found during this stage, the
officer will check the entry as far as possible. Some data on the entry
is mandatory input i.e. if an error is encountered and this input is
mandatory, processing will be blocked. The officer will then list all
the errors and/or omissions on a Query Form which will be returned to
the declarant for correction.
-
Once the corrections are returned o customs,
this will form part of the original declaration.

importer/exporter has given the authority to act as an agent for customs
purposes provided that this company or person is licensed by customs as
