8. Seru and Marti rural water supply projects:

13 hand dug wells excavated and 7 springs developed in Arsi zone Merti and Seru woredas with the total budget of ETB 400,635 obtained from UNICEF/WIBS.The project is completed and is benefiting about 23,000 people in Seru and Merti woredas of Arsi Zone.

9. Andode and Chaffe Burqitu water supply project:

During March - July/02, with a total budget of ETB 1,304,208 obtained from Oromia Food Security Office drilling of two deep wells and construction of five shallow wells were completed. They benefit a population of 9550 in the Ziway Dugda woreda of Arsi zone.

10. Purchase of Rotary Drilling Machine & Water Development Project:

Agreement of ETB 1,029,759 is already concluded with OCAA to purchase a rotary drilling machine (Second hand), to undertake a project that worth ETB 3,998,139.48, January 2003 - December 2004 in different woredas of Oromiya. The projects will benefit a total population of 100,000.

11. Goto, Herara and Shalad Water Development Project:

CRDA donated ETB 190,750 for 5 borehole projects. The project will be completed and handed over to the beneficiary communities and concerned line departments in January 2003. A total of 15,000 people will be benefited from this project.

12. Seru water development project:

Constructions of 13 hand-dug wells are underway with ETB 400,635 obtained from UNICEF/WIBS, to be completed and handed over in April 2003. A total number of 39,000 people will be benefited from this project.

13. WATER HARVESTING:

OSHO in collaboration with Oromia Council, Oromia Food Security Office, Oromia Irrigation Development Authority, Oromia Credits and Saving Company and Oromia Development Association is processing the purchase and distribution of plastic sheets (HDPE Smooth Geomembrane),”Dragone” Wedge Machine and “Dragon” Extrusion Welder Machine with ETB 22, 000, 000 for the water harvesting project in Oromia which is strongly believed to contribute to the long term food security.
