The Ethiopian Privatization Agency has, since its establishment, carried out activities of privatizing public enterprises through complete sales or partial sales to private investors. The organization has been undertaking and still is implementing programs of privatization.

The Privatization Operations Division of the EPA is responsible for the privatization process. Four line departments and one service department come under this division. The major objective (mission) of the division is to handle the privatization process in accordance with the government's policy. Its major tasks are:
   Pre- Privatization : Preparing enterprises for privatization.
   Privatization Implementation : Privatizing enterprises.
   Post- Privatization : Monitoring post-privatization issues such as the impact of privatization on the economy.
